PROMOTING THE SPORT OF WATER SKIING

We are passionate believers in water skiing, whether done competitively or recreationally, as a route to lifelong health, fitness, well-being and fun. As the world continues the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, water skiing remains a great socially distanced sporting option. If you’ve never tried it before, now’s a great time to start! Water skiing allows skiers to maintain their physical and mental health and build their self-esteem without exposing themselves to the virus.

We are also very proud to be at the forefront of competitive water skiing in Canada. We are active members of Water Ski Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) and Water Ski and Wakeboard Ontario (WSWO). We regularly volunteer to help promote the sport, run tournaments, manage the Water Ski Ontario Team, and help National Team coaches scout and develop future Junior National Team athletes. Our co-owner Jaime McClintock also sits on the WSWC Board of Directors and is one of the founding members of the Water Ski Advocacy Committee.

We work hard to maintain our site on Puslinch Lake, and are one of only a few three-event water ski sites in Canada that is open to the public for all levels of skiing. We are also one of only a few tournament sites in Ontario and the only tournament site for jump skiing. Former world champion Jeff McClintock, a McClintock’s owner from 1978 to 2013, has dedicated his life to keeping competitive water skiing alive and well in Ontario. As one of the world’s premier technical controllers for water ski courses, he regularly volunteers to help set up tournament courses around the globe and oversee all technical equipment needed for tournament regulations.

Commitment to Our Community

Our beautiful, natural environment is a huge part of why we love to ski! We have long been active supporters of the Puslinch Lake Conservation Authority (PLCA), of which Jeff McClintock (Jason’s father), was a founding member. Our co-owner Jaime McClintock has sat on the PLCA board in the past and still regularly volunteers her time for PLCA initiatives, including the ever-popular annual Puslinch Lake Home Tour and other fundraising projects.

Over the years, the McClintock family has contributed significantly to the organization, and we continue to donate the use of our property for PLCA fundraisers like the Home Tour, and a portion of all annual club membership fees go toward environmental conservation initiatives. Outside of the PLCA, the school continues to donate to youth sport initiatives and youth-related charities, including Sick Kids Hospital.

We’re also proud to help bring customers to nearby businesses and support the local economy. People come to McClintock’s to ski from across Ontario and Canada, bringing tourism revenue to local restaurants, like the fabulous Old Marina Restaurant on Puslinch Lake, hotels and shops.

In water skiing, there’s a lot of time spent on the dock between runs, and we believe wholeheartedly in nurturing a strong sense of community on the shore. Our skiers’ time with us is just as much about the friendships they make as it is about the skills they develop. We’re all about building connections and having fun—that’s what skiing’s all about!

what guides us

Family-owned-and-operated on the shores of Puslinch Lake since 1978, McClintock's Water Ski School is Canada's longest-running water ski school. We are proud to be the home training site for Canada's top athletes, coaches and international champions. Whether you're a beginner and just slipping your foot into a ski binding for the first time, a recreational skier looking for a place to ski all summer, or a competitive skier with goals of climbing the podium, McClintock’s is the place for all your water skiing needs. Everything we do is backed by a deep commitment to safety, world-renowned coaching expertise, a strong sense of community and a ton of fun.

Our team is made up of some of the best athletes and most encouraging coaches in the world, whose main focus is to make sure you feel welcome and supported both on and off the water, no matter what your age or skill level. From the moment you step on the dock, you’re a part of our family. We look forward to helping you achieve all of your water ski goals!

In times like these we need to remind ourselves of what really matters in life. We believe the people around us matter the most, and in always putting the needs of our ski community first. We love helping others, donating to organizations that give back to those in need, and most importantly helping all water skiers feel like our home is their home. Now more than ever we all need a safe haven where our health and safety is a priority and we can regain some of the physical and mental wellbeing we have lost during these trying times. We are all in this together, just a little further apart.

Safety is Our Top Priority

Nothing is more important to us than making sure everyone involved in water skiing is safe—that includes our skiers, coaches, drivers, people on the dock, and everyone else enjoying the lake around us.

All of our coaches are certified by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), and we have an extensive safety training and coaching program for all drivers in our school beyond their NCCP training. Current co-owner and head coach Jason McClintock holds Water Ski Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) Officials certifications, is a WSWC level-3 rated tournament judge (the highest level available in Canada and second highest in the world), has the highest-possible driving ranking from WSWC, and has earned all three levels of NCCP coaching certifications.

Maintaining strong, safe relationships with other boaters is very important to us—in 2018 we collaborated with Puslinch Lake Conservation Authority (PLCA) volunteers to create a boating safety and etiquette information package, we offer complimentary lake tours to all new homeowners to point out any hazard areas on the lake, and we’re always happy to speak with our local community about any questions or concerns they may have on the water.
